The construction of the walls of the observatory were started in August 2011.

They are similar to the existing Run-off Roof Observatory Construction in that they are a wooden frame covered with white Foamex.

The walls were constructed in the garage before assembly onto the foundations.

The image below shows the observatory now sheeted with UPVC foam sheet. This was also completed in one day. The sheets are held in place with stainless steel self tappers (approx 200 total used).
Total cost of the observatory including the aluminium rails (when installed) is approx £800. This does not include automation electrics/electronics/pc etc. Just cost of the observatory with a push off roof.
